With the two slam poets Joëlle Sambi and Raissa Yowali, and the Kokos (“grandmother” in Lingala), the cast is strong and the story is beautiful, combative and full of the poetry of life.
What do grandmothers know that younger children don't know yet? What are their secrets, the ones we keep for a lifetime? Their loves? Their struggles? For whom do they take up the gauntlet? Why did they leave their native land? Belgium, the Congo, their little stories and History, it’s the Koko Slam Gang who present them as a popular festival with humor and audacity.
Songs, dances, tales and memories make up a wonderful intergenerational show to see as a family, and which children will particularly appreciate. Long live the Koko Slam Gang!
