Propaganda !
Vincent Hennebicq, cie Popi Jones
Edward Bernays changed the world from the shadows. Sigmund Freud’s nephew, this American artists’ agent becomes an advertising agent and political councilor during the 1930’s and uses psychology research to create a system to manipulate the masses. He is mostly unknown by the general public while at the same time he is the father of modern consumerism and a contributor to the growth of capitalism.
Deeply intrigued when he came across Bernays’ work Propaganda, The Public Mind in the Making, Vincent Hennebicq reveals the fate of this master of the art of controlling minds by appropriating some of Mr. Bernays’ own tricks. On stage Achille Ridolfi plays Edward Bernays. Constantly interacting with the audience he reveals his true visage and fully owning the cynicism of his actions, he maintains an amusing and funny persona to better manipulate the audience.
Demonstration or prestidigitation, Propaganda ! examines the history of the 20th century and demystifies a chilling but seductive character.
