Farebeat has always enjoyed a place of pride at the Festival des Libertés. Femi Kuti is the heart of modern Afrobeat. He has nothing to envy to his father in terms of political commitment and uses his music to denounce injustice, tyranny and stands tall against the oppression exerted by the authorities in power over their people. This is his second gig at the Festival des Libertés, and he will use this unparalleled opportunity to present a tenth album filled with hope and reconciliation that has no affect whatsoever on the combative spirit and undertones of his lyrics and music.
On stage, Femi electrifies the crowd with his unbounded energy. Accompanied by his band Positive Force, Femi Kuti will serve up pure Afrobeat with the support by a wickedly powerful brass section!
For one evening, the Festival des Libertés will be transformed into the Shrine, a mythic location in Lagos that celebrates the Afrobeat music created by Fela Kuti.
