Danced narrative

Portrait d'une femme ordinaire dans un océan de coquelicots is not just a dance performance — it is an emotional journey through the memories of a deeply moving woman. Josiane, 73, has witnessed the social and political struggles that have shaped our world, from May '68 to the townships of South Africa. On stage, her body becomes the narrator of her story, blending everyday gestures with the powerful movements of protest. Every step, every motion, is a living archive, a fragment of memory that carries us into the past.

This danced narrative unveils Josiane’s duality — both a modest woman and a committed activist. Through a minimal and poetic scenography, her body unfolds like a screen of memory, where intimate recollections and moments of collective uprising meet. Far from contemporary dance conventions, Josiane embodies her real, lived body, inviting the audience into a sensory and empathetic experience. Portrait d'une femme ordinaire dans un océan de coquelicots is a performance that celebrates resilience, legacy, and self-affirmation — a reminder that every body carries a collective and political story.
