Genesis
Hakim Bouacha
For the first time, Hakim Bouacha is on stage alone.
H is a young homosexual of Kabyle origin born in the North of France into a Muslim family. Playing and dancing, he recounts his insulted adolescence in Roubaix; social and family pressures, attacks; his life as a young adult in Belgium; his questions, his rage, his struggles. Seizing testimonies collected in Morocco and Tunisia, Hakim Bouacha recounts what is hidden – encounters, experiences, love stories, violence – before returning to his personal experience. His departure from Roubaix, his one-night stands, romantic encounters and abuse – often by wealthy white men.
Faced with explosions of homophobia, Hakim Bouacha plays with documented autofiction to better combine individual scale and collective scale - auscultation of a society depicted as viscerally homophobic. Beyond his biography, aware of having been somehow ”spared”, what Hakim Bouacha tells us, and with him the other voices, are the defense mechanisms put in place by people persecuted because of their sexual orientation. The omnipresence of lack and infinite sadness.
