La Lune est en Amazonie
Mapa Teatro
In 1969, two gold prospectors discover, in the deepest Colombian jungle, an unknown human settlement, supposedly cannibalistic, that they try to communicate with without success. It is only with the arrival of Swiss/Colombian researcher Roberto Franco, also in 1969, that information on these people was secured: at the end of the 19th century, an indigenous people isolated themselves in the forest, disappearing from governmental records in order to protect themselves from drug dealers, settlers and their illnesses .
Starting from real documented events, and with its avocation as laboratory of artistic experimentation, Mapa Teatro gathers visual and auditory materials as well as testimony to create a new “ethno-fiction” crossing social imagination and poetic research. By storytelling and videos Heidi and Rolf Abderhalden cast light on the fate of the indigenous Latin American communities beset by environmental violence.
March 2020, strict confinement is decreed in Colombia for almost a year. With the isolation experienced by the Mapa Teatro, the initial reflection extends to the effects of this experience on the bodies and on the gaze that one fixes on the lesser modes of existence of these invisible communities, in permanent risk of extinction.
